Kipling Estate

The Kipling Estate Community Garden was established in 2021 by Kipling TRA, and built right in the heart of the estate overlooked by The Shard. All our gardeners are estate residents and most have never grown fruit or vegetables before. We have 23 raised beds, 24 new fruit trees, 12 fruit bushes, 2 composting stations and we just won 420 native edible hedgerows from the Woodland Trust to surround our plot. Funding was provided by the Mayor’s Fund and Southwark Council’s Cleaner Greener Safer scheme. In 2022 we are hoping to build a polytunnel, harvest rainfall from the surrounding buildings and expand our food composting.
